Bangladesh Open Source Network is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization launched in Dhaka on 24 October 2005 and registered under the Societies Act. It works to spread open source and open content, and to build technology skills among young people across the country. BdOSN is the national body behind the robotics, AI, science and mathematics listed on this page, and holds accreditation with IROC, the WRO Association and the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence. I serve as its President.
The Society for the Popularization of Science, Bangladesh works to make science a part of everyday public life, particularly for school students. It organizes the Bangladesh Junior Science Olympiad and, jointly with BdOSN, the Bangladesh Mathematics and Science Olympiad, and prepares the national teams that represent the country at IJSO and IMSO. I serve as President of SPSB.
MillionX Bangladesh is a non-profit initiative to make artificial intelligence education accessible at national scale. It partners with universities, colleges and schools to bring AI into the classroom, and supports that work with curriculum briefs, policy papers and recommendations for regulators and institutions.
The Bangladesh Mathematics and Science Olympiad is the country’s first national olympiad designed exclusively for primary school students. Organized jointly by BdOSN and SPSB, it runs through regional and national rounds, followed by a national camp and team selection test. Six to eight Students in mathematics and science are selected to represent Bangladesh at the International Mathematics and Science Olympiad.
The Bangladesh AI Olympiad is the national olympiad in artificial intelligence for school and college students. Bangladesh was a founding country of the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence in 2024, and BdOSN is the accredited organization for the Bangladesh chapter. BdAIO runs workshops, national rounds, and a training camp that selects the team sent to the international olympiad.
The Bangladesh Robot Olympiad has been the national qualifier for the International Robot Olympiad since BdOSN signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Robot Olympiad Committee in January 2018. Its national round, now held as IRO Bangladesh Open, is open to students from Class 1 to Class 12 and is supported by a year-round series of workshops and preparation camps. Bangladeshi teams have competed at the international olympiad every year since 2018.
Scratch Bangladesh is a BdOSN initiative that promotes Scratch-based programming for children. It runs Training of Trainers workshops for schoolteachers, maintains a free video library of nearly a hundred lessons on YouTube, and supports the Scratch chapters of the national primary science curriculum. It also organizes the Bangladesh Scratch Olympiad.
BdOSN has been the national organizer of the World Robot Olympiad since 2020 and held the first WRO Bangladesh national competition in 2021. Students aged 8 to 20 compete in teams of two or three, building a robot each year around a new international theme. Winners of the national round advance to the WRO International Final and the Asia-Pacific Open Championship.
